I'm about to upgrade my hard drive from 2.1GB to 20GB IDE. What is the best way to go about it? I've been advised to make the new hard drive the Slave, keep the existing one the Master and then copy the files over to the new one. But I don't want two drives in my machine.
The best solution in that case would be to make the new one the Master, change the existing one to Slave and connect it temporarily. Then you can copy the files from the old drive to the new one and remove the old one.
However, check with your system vendor that the Bios can access all 20GB
of the new drive (see the tip Can't access all my gigabytes). Otherwise you may as well save yourself some money and buy a slightly smaller one.
